More on Masculinity
So the voice thing is a big deal right now. Joel is more aware of his high, 3-year-old voice than my older ones ever were. Even in puberty, Ben and Stephen rarely commented on their changing larynxes.
Two nights ago I was holding Joel's hand as we plodded through the deserted parking lot of our Disney hotel. He was tired but wired, having spent ten hours at Mickey's famous place. So he let out a loud, happy scream.
"I fream yike a guhl," he said.
"A girl? Well, how does a boy scream?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know," he replied, "but I don't fream yike a boy."

Neither does Josh. He's famous for this "girl-screams" among the single's group.
Aaw, does it bother him or does he count it his signature scream?
