"Declaring" War?
Sarah bought Joel some Revolutionary War action figures in Boston yesterday. She was pretty sure he'd enjoy playing with "army guys" and that it might encourage his older brothers to participate in more rug time with him.
Joel opened his present this morning. "Wow! Cool" Sarah beamed with delight. We told him the red guys were the British: bad guys. We spread out the loosely interpreted plastic map of Boston that came with it.
Soon he was lining up the blue guys on one sofa cushion, the redcoats on the other. We listened in from the kitchen. Here's how he declared war.
Redcoat: Hi, guys! Wanna fight?
Blue guy: Sure!
(Begin sound effects here. Pow! Shhht-ah!)
Redcoat: Are you dead?
Blue guy: No...not...yet.
(Three seconds later): Now I'm dead.

That is so funny, and familiar. Also, I made your dessert last night for staff wives' growth group. Good thing we ate it after because otherwise we would have been confessing gluttony :). Sooo yummy!
Thanks for the highest culinary compliment--trying a recipe. Ice Cream Sandwich Cake is a keeper, then, huh?
