5 Things I'm Thankful for Today
My friend Bri asks on her recent posts, "What are you thankful for today?" I left a comment with 2 things, and then realized I needed much more space. So rather than use hers, here goes on mine:
1) Our care group. They gave us a most touching and memorable "farewell" as we shared our last meeting with them as leaders. Their love, affection, and generosity were very meaningful, their prophetic words timely, and their prayers invaluable.
I wish I had tape recorded it all.
2) God's blessing on the Katrina Kit ministry. He has done far more than I could ever have imagined. To date, seamstresses from 7 countries and 4 continents have sewn and/or sent bags, bringing our total to over 250 bags!
3) Skin. Especially Joel's baby soft skin. I can't touch it or kiss it enough times in a day.
4) Voices. I have often thought I could lose my sight before I'd want to lose my hearing. I love the sound of people talking, singing, and laughing, My favorite voices are those of my family, of course.
5) A washer and dryer. I love laundromats (I'm weird that way) but I wouldn't want to have to rely on them again. I like to watch my front-loading machine fill with suds and the clothes tumble round and round. Relaxing to watch "others" work!

This is a great, inspiring post.
May I tell you what I feel thankful for most right now?
1. My beloved: our love seems a miracle to me, a miracle renewed everyday.
2. My family. We are immensely lucky to be such a close family. May we always remain so!
3. Your calling me to take part in the Katrina Kits project. This has been such a blessing, in so many ways. It has drawn me closer to God, has enabled me to make your acquaintance, has made me realize the generosity of my fellow seamstresses.
4. The variety of languages and cultures around the world. Especially the fact that, beyond that immense variety, we are all brothers and sisters, and are all loved by God. Our cultural and linguistic differences make it always appear more wonderful to me.
5. The first hour in the morning, when Seb is still asleep: after my shower, I cuddle my kitty and sip my first cup of coffee, while reading blogs and starting to think of what I'm going to work on that day.
Avec affection,
Isabelle
It's good to remind ourselves of our blessings. Thanks. I'm watching Wilma coverage and thankful I'm in the rainy midwest.
That's beautiful, Isabelle. As for me calling, I would say that I was only the vehicle. I'm sure you'd agree that God Himself called you to this work. I am so grateful for your service, your inspiration, your encouragement, and most importantly, to know that you have grown closer to God through this bit of caring. The Proverbs 31 woman "stretches out her hand to
the poor". Truly you emulate her!
By the way, what kind of coffee do you drink, and what do you take in it? I'll think of you when I'm sipping mine tomorrow morning over Bible study. I'm easy to please coffee-wise: Folgers Regular (red can) with hazelnut creamer. Mmm.
Norma: I am thankful to be in Maryland. It's like being in a bubble between the flooded New England states and the hurricane ravaged South. We got hit by Hurricane Isabelle 2 years ago (my own propery suffered very little but friends of ours lost everything).
I can say "amen" to being thankful for a washer and dryer. After being without them for almost two weeks (and a stove) I'm so thankful for modern blessings!
Here are the five things I'm thankful for:
1. Hurricane Wilma came and went from our area with minimal damage, as hurricanes go.
Times five.
