My Life Since 1985
On October 20th....
20 years ago I... (1985)
1. painfully broke off an engagement to an unbeliever, confessed to God that I'd rather be single and obedient to Him than miserably married to someone who didn't love God. I've never regretted that decision.
2. met God's choice for me, Paul, six months later at a rundown church in the inner city. He was strumming some sweet worship tunes for inner city kids.
3. attended the funeral of Paul's brother, Gary, who died suddenly of a ruptured aorta. His mom died of the same thing 13 months later, 3 weeks before our wedding.
10 years ago I... (1995)

1 was homeschooling Ben in second grade, Sarah in first, and Stephen in pre-K.
2. loved looking into the rearview mirror of our gold Dynasty sedan, seeing three pairs of blue eyes and a smiling (or scrapping) trio in their carseats.
3 began really wanting a fourth child.
5 years ago I... (2000)
1. had suffered the loss of two babies by miscarriage
2. surrendered my desire to conceive a child, and God gave me a new desire: to adopt
from China.
3. joined Chesapeake Community Church and began growing spiritually by leaps and bounds after having been through a long inner drought.
3 years ago I... (2002)
1. held my Valentine baby who was 8 months old, a precious gift from God.
2. started homeschooling my first high schooler & suspended the adoption idea.
3. got signed by my first modeling agency (okay, so it wasn't my first; just wanted to see if you were paying attention)
1 year ago I... (2004)
1. was teaching high school English and loving it
2. began homeschooling my third teenager
3. befriended our new neighbors, Cindy and Mitch
So far this year I... (2005)
1. have eaten lots of humble pie (Don't ask for the recipe)
2. have coordinated a God-ordained hurricane relief effort with the help of women all over the world
3. turned 40.
Yesterday I...
1. started scraping Wite-Out off the bathroom mirror (and counter, and shower door, and wallpaper,and Paul's pants). I think the culprit gave himself away with his white signature on the mirror. Backwards J. Then an O, E, and L.
2. Bought 13 women's deodorants, 12 soaps, 5 toothbrush holders, and some pretty drawstring to finish some Katrina Kits.
3. soaked up a rich video teaching on trusting God, by Beth Moore.
Today I...
1. got fabric and a sweet note from Leonie, in Canada
2. mailed 40 more Katrina Kits to Baruch HaShem (Bless the Name)Congregation. The FedEx guys, John and Abel, know my dad and me pretty well now.
3. got to rub my Valentine baby's back as he fell off to sleep.
Tomorrow I will...
1. drink my coffee with hazelnut creamer and sugar
2. do the next lesson in Beloved Disciple
3. Pray for Isabelle and Sebastian.
In the next year I will (hopefully)...
1. become a better wife, mother, daughter,sister, friend
2. celebrate 19 years of wedded bliss (okay, sometimes it's just been wedded something or other!)
3. Draw closer to the Lord! :)

I loved getting to know you even better, Zoanna, through this quick "life in a nutshell."
I love this post. I can't believe I missed it. Hope you get this comment. Your life is a trophy of God's love and grace! Did you know that as you took each day at a time that such beauty would be emerging? (Ford modeling co. should be so lucky!)
I actually made a mistake (can you believe it? I know, ME! :(-) I joined CCC 10 years ago, not 5.
