Kingdom Thoughts, Day 1

Sept 1, 2006--
Today I am starting a 40-day self-challenge to meditate on the kingdom on God. What is it? Who is it? When and where is it? What does it look like? What's my role? How much do I care about it? What does scripture say about it? What has changed in my thinking since my early days as a Christian when I heard the phrase "kingdom of God"?
Sarah and I will be exploring this topic to kick off our new homeschool year together. (As an aside, I'm eager to know what it's like to homeschool just one child. I haven't done that since Ben was in kindergarten. He starts college next week.)
I'd love to hear thoughts on this topic from anyone and everyone. I've been stirred by Nicole's and Libby's posts about this very thing.
My main desire as I jump into this topic is that it would change me. I used to love academic Bible studies for the sake of academia alone. No more. My prayer is "Lord Jesus, I want to be where You are, to think Your thoughts, to love people in and into Your kingdom for Your sake. Please direct me through Your Word and any other means of knowing --and caring--more deeply about Your kingdom."
