Winner or Loser?

I'm not sure how to re-date the post I drafted on July 31st to show today's date, but wanted to point out that I am really confused about whether I am the loser or the winner of a recent dejunking contest. Please scroll down, read it, and then give me your verdict. If I win, I get a china hutch but have to treat Bonnie to dinner. If I lose, I get the china hutch and she picks up the dinner tab.

Boy, that looks terrible on paper. I do consider myself a winner no matter what my jury of peers decides, but I really want you to deliberate this matter and present me with your decision. Thank you.

I'm confused here. If you have lost 391 pounds in the dejunking contest and your friend Bonnie 178, even if she adds the china hutch to this, you would still be winning, wouldn't you?

Either way, I think both of you have won. You have won the battle against clutter and you both must be feeling so much fresher, "cleaner". What a great achievement! And how fun to be achieving this with a friend.

So, what's next on the agenda? :)
I remember you wrote a list of 40 goals in January, and wow, that could count for several goals!

I do hope I'll manage to make something pretty for your birthday, my friend. It might be a little late though, what with my present professional and charity commitments. :(

Oh... And about that gift you told me about... Please my friend. Don't you worry a second about that. There are so many charities out there who require our help, not to mention your own family. You know what matters to me is our friendship. I really, really mean it.
Thank you for your continued comments on my blog, they are precious.

I believe that about 100 of the pounds of junk actually went out between 4:00 and 4:10, so while 10 minutes doesn't sound like much, it's still past 4. I think Mrs. Bonnie should win. It's only about a 10 dollar meal anyway.

I should have said Bonnie estimated the hutch to be about 300 pounds.

Sarah, I thought you and Stephen carried everything out by 4 sharp. ANYWAY, 100 pounds less would've been 291, still a lot more everyday junk than she put out. But you're right, all things considered, what's 10 bucks? Plus, Lord willing, I'll have a china hutch soon.

Isabelle-don't YOU worry about timing a gift for my birthday. Yours was in May and I'm STILL putzing away at it. (It's a growing creation, that's why, and we've had a ton of company on and off.) Besides, your research conference must be your main focus right now, As for my goals, I'm glad you asked. It's time for a relook, huh?

Your friendship matters a whole lot to me also.

Fishmama- as I said in my comment box above, Bonnie thinks the hutch weighs "a good 300 pounds." I'd be curious to know for sure. If it's mahogany and glass (which it is) she's probably close in her guess.

I said that wrong. Loser is the one with the least junk. Loser pays for dinner. No wonder you were confused.
